Yeah! Typographic installation made from drinking straws

Bangkok design studio FarmGroup has created this hanging installation from used plastic straws. Packed tightly together, hundreds of these reclaimed straws form the building blocks for larger shapes and words. This installation, for the Siam Center, intends to emphasize the idea that nearly anything can be reused.

By Anthony Michael Simon, this cracking project is done in collaboration with a group of spiders! The webs are spun on these plastic rods, then the artist covers them in a protective coating to hold the structure and then he adds colour. The ingenuity of making use of an animals instinctive constructionism is so basic and stripped down, they make for very interesting viewing.

Neon Leather was one of the biggest trends we spotted at the recent Lineapelle tradeshow in Bologna. Metallic neon from Rivadavia looked incredible, as did the neon rubbed-off effect from Nuova Osba Italia - great for sports product. Exotic leathers also got a look in seen here from Martinez group leather.

Metallic leather continues to shine at Lineapelle, we love this shattered glass effect from Brotini Mario & C.SNC.

Yayoi Kusama : Look Now, See Forever

19 November 2011 to 11 March 2012

An interactive installation by Yayoi Kusama that is sure to bring a smile to your face is currently on exhibit at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art. Titled “The Obliteration Room”, the project started out a whitewashed home interior as a blank canvas for children visiting  the museum to cover with colorful dots. It’s a an exercise in participatory art, in layering and builup.

By Jannick Deslauriers, large-scale textile installations like this are a perfect merging of imposing, powerful 3-Dimentional pieces of work and delicate, flexible fabric. The type of material that Deslauriers has used makes the tank have more of an impact, that fact that this is full scale too makes it even better!
